BMW Hydrogen Powered Cars
A hydrogen car is a car that uses hydrogen as its major power of motivation. Hydrogen cars
can use either a fuel cell or combustion. Cars that use hydrogen instead of gasoline burn the hydrogen is basically
the same way that they burn the hydrogen. Hydrogen cars are considered to be more environmentally friendly than
gasoline because the energy is renewable and would not result in emission of carbon dioxide from the vehicle. The
likelihood of hydrogen cars being on the market is looking better every day. In fact, BMW Hydrogen powered cars are
supposedly in the works.
According to an article released by Mobile Magazine Online on March 15, 2006, BMW was expecting to release their
BMW hydrogen powered cars within two years of the release of the article. The original goal for the company was for
the cars to be released by 2010. These cars are supposed to have two tanks for fuel. One of the tanks would be for
hydrogen and one would be for regular gasoline. The BMW hydrogen powered cars would be a 7-Series vehicle and would
be the very first series of cars to have hydrogen capability. Eventually BMW hopes to make its entire line of
vehicles hydrogen powered. In fact, BMW has plans to use liquid hydrogen to power the V12 engine.
BMW has been exploring the idea of releasing BMW hydrogen powered cars ever since the 1970s. Their first
hydrogen vehicle was the BMW 750hL. BMW also participated in the Clean Energy World Tour, which focused on the
making, distributing and making good use of hydrogen in cars. The Clean Energy World Tour was seen in Los Angeles,
Dubai, Milan, Brussels and Tokyo. Another famous BMW hydrogen powered cars is the BMW H2R Record Car. This car set
nine of the hydrogen world speed records at the French Miramas Proving Grounds for high speed. BMW is very
determined to lead the hydrogen race.
Hydrogen is one of the most debated fuel alternatives of all time. Those who are in favor of using hydrogen say
that it is better for the environment because it will help us shift away from being a carbon economy. Those who are
opposed to using hydrogen as an automotive fuel source say that it is far too costly to produce the hydrogen fuel
cells and that there are extreme safety concerns. Hydrogen is a flammable gas. It is far more likely to ignite than
the hydrocarbon fuels that are currently being used. Of course, there are also environmental experts say that the
car version of the Hindenburg tragedy is highly unlikely to occur.
Wherever you land on the hydrogen debate, one thing is for sure: BMW is on the bandwagon and is determined to
release BMW hydrogen powered cars sooner rather than later. Eventually BMW hopes to only release BMW hydrogen
powered cars. The company has already released a few models and has earned speed records and they hope to release
their first line of hydrogen centric vehicles by 2008.
Cars That Run on Water Tip #1
No matter what anybody tells you, there is not yet a water powered car in production. That is an urban myth that
reached its peak with Stanley Meyer who claimed that he drove one hundred miles using only four ounces of water (he
was later convicted of fraud). The water powered engine hasn't even been invented yet. Scientists are still trying
to figure out if it is even possible.
Cars That Run on Water Tip #2
Many major car manufacturers are embracing the idea of the hydrogen car. BMW hopes to release a hydrogen car to
the public by 2008 (or 2010 at the latest) and other manufacturers like Toyota are also making plans to release
hydrogen car lines. Of course the debate over using hydrogen in cars is still raging and nothing has been settled
yet.
Cars That Run on Water Tip #3
While both a water based engine and a hydrogen engine will do wonders for fuel emissions and the environment,
one of the major reasons people want them is to improve their fuel mileage. Of course, gas mileage can be improved
right now. You can improve your gas mileage drastically just by driving sensibly and making sure your car is
maintained properly.
