Calculate gas mileage
It is not very hard to calculate gas mileage. There are a couple of ways to calculate gas mileage-you can either
do it yourself or use an online mileage calculator to do it for you. If you want to learn to calculate gas mileage
yourself, just follow these simple directions!
The next time you fill up your gas tank make a note of the reading on your odometer. If you are able to reset
the odometer to zero, go ahead and do that. Usually there will be a little knob or button underneath the odometer
that will reset the odometer for you when it gets pushed. If you can't reset your odometer, write down its reading
on a piece of paper and leave that piece of paper in your car.
Now just drive as you normally would until you need to refill your gas tank. When it is time to refill your gas
tank, take a look at your odometer reading. If you were able to reset the odometer, it will tell you how many miles
you have driven since your last trip to the gas station. If you were not able to reset the odometer, find the piece
of paper you wrote your last odometer reading on and subtract that number from the number that is currently
displayed. This also will tell you how many miles you have driven.
Divide the number of miles you have driven by the amount of gallons of gasoline you just put into your car.
The answer to the division problem will give you your miles per gallon.
If you don't want to do calculate gas mileage manually, you can just plug the same information into an online
mileage calculator and it will calculate gas mileage for you.
Knowing how many miles per gallon your car gets is handy, not just so you can budget for gas each month but it
is also good to know if you decide to take a road trip anywhere. If you know how many miles can drive for each mile
of gasoline you use and if you have access to the local gas prices along your route, chances are you will be able
to plan your gas budget almost to the dollar.
Of course once you calculate gas mileage you will probably want to start taking steps to increase that number
each time you fill up your tank. The best way to improve your gas mileage is to drive safely. By driving the speed
limit and not driving aggressively you can increase your gas mileage by significant percentages. You should also
keep up with the basic maintenance your car needs. Make sure the air filters and oil get replaced on a regular
basis. You should use your cruise control whenever you can, especially if you are going to be spending a lot of
time on straight stretches of highway. Your cruise control will give your legs a break and help you improve your
gas mileage.
Cars That Run on Water Tip #1
No matter what anybody tells you, there is not yet a water powered car in production. That is an urban myth that
reached its peak with Stanley Meyer who claimed that he drove one hundred miles using only four ounces of water (he
was later convicted of fraud). The water powered engine hasn't even been invented yet. Scientists are still trying
to figure out if it is even possible.
Cars That Run on Water Tip #2
Many major car manufacturers are embracing the idea of the hydrogen car. BMW hopes to release a hydrogen car to
the public by 2008 (or 2010 at the latest) and other manufacturers like Toyota are also making plans to release
hydrogen car lines. Of course the debate over using hydrogen in cars is still raging and nothing has been settled
yet.
Cars That Run on Water Tip #3
While both a water based engine and a hydrogen engine will do wonders for fuel emissions and the environment,
one of the major reasons people want them is to improve their fuel mileage. Of course, gas mileage can be improved
right now. You can improve your gas mileage drastically just by driving sensibly and making sure your car is
maintained properly.
